Autumn's here, and Easter's around the corner, along with colourful Easter eggs, cute Easter bunnies and joyful family events; it brings with it a happy paradox. We are preparing for financial year end in our corridors, from finalising our year-end targets; processing all the discretionary grants applications received; to finalising contracts with our new bursary management partners, while at the same time, gearing up for the start of the new Fasset financial year in April. This time marks a milestone in the calendar, a revived sense of hope at this season, as well as the celebration of new beginnings. And in that sense, as we share what is both a religious and universal celebration, we wish our readers a very happy Easter.
We still remain focused on ensuring that we achieve maximum impact in all of our interventions, as well as to continue working on building a lasting legacy of learning and development.
To ensure that your skills development needs are catered for, please remember that the deadline for the Mandatory Grant submission is 30 April 2018.
Keep reading to take note of other important events, applications and deadlines. Best wishes to you over this Easter season.
Kind Regards
Zandile Skosana

TVET Work based Experience (WBE) Programme
The Department of Higher Education and Training identified the need to capacitate public TVET Colleges, to become the preferred providers of occupational skills, as relevant, in South Africa. This need was identified to, amongst others, address the high unemployment rate amongst the age group 16 - 34.
It is assumed that work experience will enhance the employability of unemployed persons, in particular if such work experience is:
- Related to and supports their field of study;
- Obtained in an environment with processes and structures in place to coach and mentor such persons;
- Obtained in the environment of a reputable employer; and
- Of an adequate length to allow sufficient time to gain exposure and experience in a number of generic and specific skills.
Fasset will open a window in April 2018 for employers in our sector to apply to train learners from TVET Colleges.
Please click here for further information about the TVET WBE programme and to apply
