We had a lot on our tray this month, from finalising our year-end targets; processing all the discretionary grant applications received; to finalising contracts with our new bursary management partners, while at the same time, gearing up for the start of the new financial year in April.

We would like to acknowledge all stakeholders in the sector and thank you for your participation and unwavering support. The 2016/17 financial year had its highlights and challenges, and we still remain focused on ensuring that we achieve maximum impact in all of our interventions, as well as to continue working on building a lasting legacy of learning and development.

To ensure that your skills development needs are catered for, please remember that the deadline for the Mandatory Grant submission is 30 April 2016. Just one month to go!

Keep reading to take note of other important events, applications and deadlines.

Kind Regards
Zandile Skosana

1 Fasset Incentives Update

Fasset will be hosting its customary Incentives Update from 5-7 April 2017 in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. SDFs are encouraged to attend as the grants available for the 2017/18 year will be discussed, as well as the Mandatory Grant.

These workshops aim to empower Skills Development Facilitators (SDFs) with information on the benefits of being a member of the Seta, and provide information on Fasset's strategy.

Registrations are still open on the Fasset website at www.fasset.org.za; please reserve your seat today if you have not already done so.

Career Awareness

The National Skills Authority (NSA), together with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) hosted a successful National Skills Conference which took place at Saint George Hotel, Irene in Pretoria on the 23-24 March 2017. Some of the event highlights were the exhibitions housing more than 50 entities showcasing the diverse career fields to high school learners in the Gauteng region.

Fasset has partnered with AAT (SA), SAICA and Deloitte in its exhibition stall and interacted with more than 4 500 learners over the two day event. We would like to thank Phumzile Phatedi and Thembi Phuti (AAT(SA)); Moagi Mpshe and Phophi Tshikosi (Deloitte) for participating at this event as our partners in the finance and accounting services sector. This partnership has added great flair to the event and we look forward to more partnerships in future events.
4 National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Loan Repayment Grant
