The festivities around Youth month have ended, we hope that our Youth in the sector, including those young at heart have enjoyed the month!
The first quarter of the 2018/2019 financial year has flown by so quickly for us. We will be running our first Lifelong Learning workshops in the 2018/2019 financial year from August 2018; please be on the lookout for the detailed events calendar on our website.
The Compliance with Changes in Legislation workshop will be running from the 04 September 2018 to 21 September 2018. More information on course content, venue details and how to reserve your seat will be available on our website from the 16 July 2018.
Another important date to diarise is 27 September 2018; Fasset will be hosting its AGM and Thank-you function. Further details will follow in the July issue of eFacts.
Stakeholder consultation will also be a priority, as we seek to restore the mutual trust and strong cooperation that Fasset and its sector traditionally enjoyed. Among our plans is the reinstatement of our working committee structure with the sector, which served us and our constituents well for many years. We will send out the relevant communication as soon as we are settled in our new headquarters.

Fasset is moving offices in July
Fasset will be moving offices from the middle of July 2018. Our new premises will be situated at 296 Kent Avenue, Randburg. Please bear with us during this period as we anticipate some service disruptions as we prepare for the move. Our call centre team will be on stand-by to assist you, and the rest of the team will be responding to your needs intermittently.

Fasset had a very busy start of its financial year and concluded a few appointments since the beginning of 2018. It gives me great pleasure to announce our new appointments at Fasset. We welcome the following people to our stable and wish them all the success in their new roles:

Fasset Alumni Call for Volunteers - Pay it forward!
Pay it forward and volunteer your time. We have noticed that more and more matriculants are arriving at University and other institutions of higher learning without Maths as a subject, rather opting for Maths Literacy. This is of great concern to us, as these learners are not able to enter into the STEM and Finance related qualifications at tertiary level.
We are looking for passionate individuals who want to make a real difference to young people. We are looking for volunteers to help us with disseminating career awareness information. We are calling upon our Alumni to volunteer their time and give career awareness talks at schools, youth centres, churches and communities around you.
If you wish to pledge your support and volunteer, please send an e-mail to Vusi Mahlangu at learners@fasset.org.za with Career Awareness Volunteer - (Your Region) as the subject line. The first 5 Gauteng based volunteers to sign up to this worthy cause will earn themselves a Fasset branded lunch bag!

Ceasing Accreditation
As of 30 June 2018, all SETA quality assured qualifications that have not been replaced by Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) qualifications, will reach their expiry date. As of 15 December 2017, Fasset will no longer be accepting accreditation requests for any of these qualifications. As it takes providers an average of 6 months to achieve accreditation, any accreditation process commenced after 15 December 2017 would likely leave the provider with insufficient time to effectively run a qualification, before the last date of registration has been reached.
