The year is drawing to a close and there is a wave of excitement in the air as organisations in our sector are preparing for year end and December closure. Fasset still remains committed to attending to your skills development needs and will only be closing its offices on the 20th December 2019 and reopening on the 2nd January 2020.

On behalf of the Fasset team, I would like to wish you a vibrant November month and to remind you to hang in there if you are facing exams!

1 Compulsory Online Submission of Mandatory Grant Applications

The Skills Development Plan (mandatory grant application) due on 30 April 2020 must be submitted online by all organisations. Previously online submission was only compulsory for large and medium employers, but small levy paying organisations are now included in this requirement. In an effort to assist employers in the process, Fasset will publish guidelines for submission on its website, and endeavour to open the functionality for submission, early in the new year.

The change in process will result in quicker evaluation and response time and more efficient payment of the grant.

Circle of Influence event - 27 November 2019

Fasset is hosting the Circle of Influence event in Cape Town, this is the meeting of minds that shape our sector. Please note that this event is by invitation only.

At this second instalment of the Circle of Influence event, we will learn from our expert speakers, including Abdulla Verachia; the MC and session facilitator.

Abdulla is a well-known speaker and disruptor. He is: the CEO of The Strategists; a Senior Faculty member at GIBS; GIBS Programme Director of the Harvard Senior Executive Programme for Africa; Executive Chairperson of The Collective Genius and The Collective Genius Centre; and the Co-Founder and Non-executive Director of Digicars - a disruptor in the motor industry.

As an expert in all things concerning the future, Abdullah lends Fasset a massive wealth of expertise; which he will share with you at the Circle of Influence event.

Among us "Reimagining the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on Finance & Accounting Skills", Abdullah will delve into the following topics:

  • Disruption and disintermediation
  • How will digital impact professional services in general and our industry in particular
  • Technology driving different learning methods
  • What skills to we need to unlearn and relearn
  • Industry imbalances and technology consumption differences
  • Articulation of classroom learning of the latest 4th IR technologies to on the job training
  • How might we infuse a different learning culture to better equip our industry for the change

Apply for Fasset’s National Student Financial Aid Scheme Loan Repayment Grant

Learners on learnerships are often cash-strapped. Some learners are paying tuition fees to complete their studies; others are repaying their National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) loan. Fasset would like to encourage employers to ensure that learners, who are eligible for the grant, apply. Applications are opening on the 15 November 2019 and close on the 14 February 2020.
